What is Decompression?
A few days after sailing ends (~19–22 September). Historically organised as a shared villa / on-land decompression hangout in the area. Some years include an optional parallel sailing trip (e.g., Turkish Sideburn — a sailing week in Turkey).
- Landburn is also open to friends/community who are not on boats, as long as they are aligned with the 10 Principles and consent culture.
Decompression has no permanent coordinator — it emerges organically each year:
- Someone researches options and proposes a location in the Telegram topic
- The community discusses and informally votes
- People book individually (via Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.)
- Overflow finds nearby alternatives (a second villa, camping, etc.)
- A Decom Booking tab in the Pyraegea spreadsheet tracks who's staying where
We need community members to step up to coordinate accommodation + logistics each year.
Accommodation Options
- Rooms in a small property (villa, apartment hotel) — booked individually
- Nearby Airbnb/villa overflow — for when the main property fills up
- Camping (beach, forest, or someone's yard)
- Boat anchoring — some crews stay on their boat, if they have one private to them
- Hosted by a local community member — if someone in the community lives nearby, they may offer their house, yard for tents, a car, and local knowledge
🎵 Pro tip: If you're booking a small property and want to, shall we say, maintain a festive atmosphere — try to book all the rooms so there's nobody else to complain.
Getting from the Marina to the Airport
On departure day, shared ground transport is typically self-organised via the Telegram group. Keep an eye on the General Telegram topic on the final day for anyone organising a shared ride, or post your own departure time to find others heading the same way.
Treat Telegram announcements + the roster/briefings as the source of truth for this year's specifics.
